FIFA And EA Sports Extend License Until 2022
Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and EA Sports have announced this morning that they’ve extended their license agreement until December 2022. This news may come as a surprise in terms of timing, but not overall shocking.
EA Sports will now continue to have the FIFA-branded games, and all the right to the official FIFA World Cup games too. EA Sports EVP Andrew Wilson said “EA Sports released the first FIFA branded soccer game in 1993, and 20 years later our partnership with FIFA continues to be very strong.”
Last years hugely successful FIFA 13 has sold more than 14.5 million units since it’s arrival in September 2012. EA revealed the figures as part of their year-end financial results. The total increase in overall sales is up by 30% compared to the FIFA 12 title.
The FIFA video games are doing better than they’ve ever done before, and with EA at the helm, they will surely continue to do so.
