The Next-gen Goalkeepers Upgraded For All FIFA 15 Modes
One of the biggest improvements to Electronic Arts Sports highly successful football video game franchise this year is the goalkeepers. The men in-between the two posts have been in the spotlight and all of them have been tweaked and gone under a massive makeover that will change goalkeeping on FIFA games forever.
The engines of the keepers for FIFA 15 have been completely revamped so there’s now well over 50 different types of saves and general movement around the goal that’s never been seen before. New save animations, vastly improved AI and a more life-like model to each keeper are the main components here.
Let’s take a in-depth look at what exactly has changed this year and go through all the new improvements step-by-step.
A Variety Of Different Goals
With this brand new engine in place, it can only mean one thing! There will be loads of different ways to score goals in FIFA 15 with goalkeepers more active than ever before. A wide variety of different kinds of goals can now be scored to give a different kind of balance to the game and keep things interesting.
Quick shots will catch goalies off guard and they will have a significant impact on the title when it heads our way this September 2014.
Improved Reactions & Overall Saving
As you can see from the image above, EA have set out to capture a variety of different movements from some of the worlds top goalies. With this technology contributing to improving the overall engine of the game, keepers will now make saves that are far more realistic by making last ditch saves, tips over the bar instead of the same old catching that has been in previous installments.
They’ll also adjust their footing when strikers or other outfield players in their penalty box twist and turn with the ball at their feet, this will be so they’re in a great position to pull off a potential match-winning save. You’ll now see epic saves like putting out a leg and diving across their goal to stop the ball from crossing the line.
Better Decision Making From Keepers
The decision making from goalies on FIFA 15 has been drastically tweaked to perfection this year. Now they will judge the flight of the ball better, come out for corners when they absolutely have to, and have better reactions when dealing with one-on-ones.
Their overall intelligence has been pushed up a gear as well, with the AI clearing up after your defenders make errors at the back and more than likely saving your bacon nine times out of ten. Check out the official trailer that EA released that showcases the new next-gen keepers in action below.
