FIFA 18 Defending Tutorial – Interceptions Guide
This is a follow up to our defending school series and in the second defending tutorial we are looking at interceptions. Learning exactly how to intercept the ball on FIFA 18 is crucial if you want to win at the highest level. Take a look at the full HD video guide below that teaches you how to do it.
The first thing to change is switching the players with the LB/L1 button as that highlights the closest player to the ball. This is good if that is the case but in most cases you’ll need to be another player to cut out a pass near your defence.
All you have to do is flick the right analogue-stick in the direction of the player that you want to be. This is an absolute game changer and will improve your defending by 80% compared to not using it at all.
Now that you know how to do that, you need to start cutting the passing lanes and intercepting the ball in midfield, attack and defence. This is what all the top pro players do at the very highest level and implementing this into your game will make you an incredibly hard player to beat especially if you master it.
Using players who possess high interception and reaction stats will increase your chances of getting the ball easier but ultimately it’s down to you and your skill. In FIFA 18 the online players tend to try not to go with the crossing gameplan but instead like to spread the play slowly from one side to the other so this is your cue to cut them out and suffocate their attacking talent.
