After much confusion, Microsoft have finally clarified that only the pre-orders of the Xbox One Day One Edition of FIFA 14 will receive a free copy of the football title. Just the other month, it was revealed that anyone who decided to pre-order the Xbox One version would get the game for free. It was naturally assumed to many that this actually applied to all pre-orders for the system, and not just the Day One Edition.

A tweet has finally given some insight into this confusing situation from Graeme Boyd who’s the social marketing manager for Microsoft. He confirmed that only the European pre-orders for the Day One Edition will be eligible for the free copy of FIFA 14. You can view the full tweets that he posted below and see for yourself.
Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last.

If you have already pre-ordered a Day One Edition Xbox One, or pre-order one from now on while stocks last, you will receive FIFA 14 free.

Another important note – the Day One Edition Xbox One FIFA 14 offer is valid in Europe, this holiday, while stocks last.

The freebie will also be arriving in the form of a download code, which means that you can give it away to a friend if it’s not quite what you wanted after all. The offer is only subject to European residents as well, and there’s nothing in relation to other continents being eligible at this moment in time either. This will likely change before the worldwide release date that’s the 27th September when the game’s out.
